There are many great uses for removable wallpaper, and DIY's for kids rooms may be just the most fun of them all! This time we would like to share with you a DIY book bin tutorial, created by our dear friend Helen Thompson.
If your kiddos are bookworms and you have a lot of books lying around, this is simple DIY will allow them to keep their favourite books in order, displaying them beautifully at the same time.
All you need to make this beautiful book bin yourself is:
- wooden planks
- some removable wallpaper
- tools (measuring tape, saw, drill)
- paint & painters tape
- furniture legs
Firstly you need to decide on the size of your book bin. Then sketch all the pieces on the wooden planks and cut them out with the saw. Glue or nail all the pieces together and you almost have the finished book storage box.
All you need to do now is apply the removable wallpaper (Helen used our Dalmatian print), paint the book bin {if desired}, and add the furniture legs at the bottom. We have found some pretty ones here at Pretty Pegs for a mid-century modern look we're swooning over lately!
And there you have it! Your little one has his very own reading corner, where he can keep his favourite books at a reachable height and his preferred order. The black & white combination of the book bin lets the colourful books pop against it, creating a very aesthetically pleasing view. Floating shelves right next to it makes this kids reading nook look like a little library - the best place to daydream about the next adventure!
