September is the month of back to school. So for this months decorating tips we have decided to share some ideas on how to create an interior for your kid's room. Find few suggestions on how to make your kid's living space durable and easily adjustable as they grow.
No. 1 - MAKE A BACKGROUND
I advise to start with making the room basically a blank canvas by painting the walls in neutral tones, choosing a bed that can fit a grownup and every other piece of furniture that is not specific for child. This may seem boring, but when in no time your baby girl will like ballerinas instead of animals you will appreciate that you have to change posters and bedding not full set of furniture.
No. 2 - REMODEL FURNITURE
Small but really eye catching accent could be drawer knobs. For a smaller child they could be fun and colorful, maybe even DIY, later you can change the knobs to something more sophisticated, without loosing the eye catching moment.
No. 3 - CHALKBOARD WALL
No kid would say no to a legal way to draw on walls. Chalkboard wallpaper gives them this opportunity. Reaching their teenage years this can be simply black wall or a space to do art or making to-do lists.
No. 4 - NAME THE ROOM
I trust at some age every kid has wanted to put a label “STOP” on their door to demonstrate it’s their own space. I would suggest going a different route. Light letters or even a full name. This works as lighting and also as a really cool way to signify who is the owner of the room.
No. 5 - GALLERY WALL
Create a gallery wall with your kids art, some reference to their hobbies or maybe simply a poster of a superhero they are obsessed with at the moment. You can add some decorative elements or even build it around the light letters I mentioned before. Content of the spaces can be altered very easily so the kids may even do this without you. A simple way to change the mood of a room.
No. 6 - FLOOR SEATING
Spending time on the floor is much appreciated by kids of all ages. Why not pick a stylish way for it? Do a few floor pillows according to the rooms color scheme different sizes and maybe even shapes or a bigger bean bag or maybe a more structured chair like option. Depends on your and your kids preference.
No. 7 - INVOLVE YOUR CHILD
For the final tip I would like to encourage you to ask your kids for their ideas, make their room remodelling a project you can do together, bond with your teenager and take into consideration their thoughts! Have fun with it!
