MID-CENTURY STYLE & ITS SIGNATURE ELEMENTS
Whenever I start a project, the first thing I like to do is to read and collect information about the project topic. The mid-century time frame is rich with iconic architectural and artistic masterpieces that have left a mark on modern-day culture. For some, the mid-century time associates mostly with geometric shapes, functionality, and The Great Gatsby, but there is also another, more abstract, and bold side to it. In this Mid-Century Modern wallpaper collection, we explore new techniques to create unique, modern wallpaper and wall mural designs that will bring a stylish mid-century vibe to any home interior.
When you think about how to style or redesign your living space, a good, structured plan or mood board can help to see where you are heading and how to get there. While reading what made mid-century so iconic, the signature elements that stood out for me were simple forms, nature influence, industrial-style elements, and bold graphics with strong contrast colors. These elements shape the design concept for this collection.
SHAPES & COLORS
The next phase of the design process was to put everything on the paper. For me, this is one of the most crucial parts of the creative process, where I can visually see the shapes, textures, and colors - all coming together.
DIFFERENT TECHNIQUES & TOOLS
Now here comes the fun part - experimenting with different techniques, tools & colors to create the perfect shapes. For the
Mid-Century wallpaper collection, one of the main tools that I used was different types of brushes to achieve unique shapes & textures.
THE PERFECT PATTERN
While creating a new pattern, I always keep in mind rules that helps me to achieve the right look. Let your creativity flow but stay focused on the main style. Create one idea with a different type of method. Once you have created something, leave it for a couple of days and inspect it later - this is a great way how to have a fresh look at your work.
